I've never been able to download a non-0 size file from archives.thebbs.org.

However, I'm suspecting it might something related to Firefox 3, as I've
observed similar effects with other FTP servers: if a FTP transaction is
aborted, it's unable to communicate with that server until you close the
brower and open it again. This behaviour might be triggered by other
circumstances too, I'm not 100% sure of what's causing it.
