subject: Christian Girl Expelled Due To Beliefs

JS> What I stated a number of years ago in my article "When Sin
JS> Is No Longer A Sin" is coming to pass more and more with
JS> each passing year. Man's misguided laws regarding what is
JS> deemed acceptable human sexual conduct are slowly but
JS> surely replacing God's Laws concerning the same.

Since God's laws are in force against each of us individually,
they cannot be displaced. Since God's laws are not the province
of man's government to enforce, there is no conflict there.

JS> It becomes evident more and more each day, that because of
JS> our Bible-based beliefs regarding the immorality of the gay
JS> and lesbian lifestyle, we are slowly being ostracized from
JS> society. The following Fox News article is yet more proof
 JS> of this.

No, it really is not. Where I went to Sunday school we were
taught it's a sin to tell a lie. That article seems to be well
 stocked with lies.

JS> I applaud this girl for standing up for her Christian
JS> beliefs. May God bless her, strengthen her and comfort her
JS> during her times of trial.

JS> Court Upholds Expulsion of Counseling Student Who Opposes
 JS> Homosexuality

Now where is the student expelled? Removed from a program, but
that's not the same as expulsion from the school.

JS> By Todd Starnes - Fox News

 JS> July 28, 2010

JS> A federal judge ruled schools can expel students, like
JS> Julea Ward, who believe homosexuality is morally wrong.
JS> Ward's lawsuit against Eastern Michigan University was
 JS> dismissed.

Right off the bat that seems like a lie. It was not her belief
about homosexuality, but her refusal to provide her professional
counseling to homosexuals. Not the same thing at all.

JS> A federal judge has ruled in favor of a public university
JS> that removed a Christian student from its graduate program
JS> in school counseling over her belief that homosexuality is
JS> morally wrong. Monday's ruling, according to Julea Ward's
JS> attorneys, could result in Christian students across the
JS> country being expelled from public university for similar
 JS> views.

And that seems to be a clear lie. Removal from one graduate
program does not imply mass expulsions from public universities.
And the text itself shows the lie.

JS> "It's a very dangerous precedent," Jeremy Tedesco, legal
JS> counsel for the conservative Alliance Defense Fund, told
JS> FOX News Radio. "The ruling doesn't say that explicitly,
JS> but that's what is going to happen."

His presumption does not make a legal case.

 ...

JS> The university contended she violated school policy and the
JS> American Counseling Association code of ethics.

JS> "Christian students shouldn't be expelled for holding to
JS> and abiding by their beliefs," said ADF senior counsel
JS> David French. "To reach its decision, the court had to do
JS> something that's never been done in federal court: uphold
JS> an extremely broad and vague university speech code."

Now that seems to be a lie also. No where in the article is
there anything about her freedom of speech, only her refusal to
 perform professional services for homosexuals.

JS> Eastern Michigan University hailed the decision.

JS> "We are pleased that the court has upheld our position in
JS> this matter," EMU spokesman Walter Kraft said in a written
JS> statement. "Julea Ward was not discriminated against
JS> because of her religion. To the contrary, Eastern Michigan
JS> is deeply committed to the education of our students and
JS> welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds into our
 JS> community."

And that does seem to be the truth.

JS> In his 48-page opinion, Judge Steeh said the university had
JS> a rational basis for adopting the ACA Code of Ethics.

JS> "Furthermore, the university had a rational basis for
JS> requiring students to counsel clients without imposing
JS> their personal values," he wrote in a portion of his ruling

And that is proper and professional.

JS> posted by The Detroit News. "In the case of Ms. Ward, the
JS> university determined that she would never change her
JS> behavior and would consistently refuse to counsel clients
JS> on matters with which she was personally opposed due to her
JS> religious beliefs - including homosexual relationships."

Ok, now "never" is a very long time. No one can say never for
 sure.

JS> Ward's attorneys claim the university told her she would
JS> only be allowed to remain in the program if she went
JS> through a "remediation" program so that she could "see the
JS> error of her ways" and change her belief system about
 JS> homosexuality.

Change only the refusal to provide conseling to homosexuals
 according to the text.

JS> The case is similar to a lawsuit the ADF filed against
JS> Augusta State University in Georgia. Counseling student
JS> Jennifer Keeton was allegedly told to stop sharing her
JS> Christian beliefs in order to graduate.

I do not believe that. I flat out do not believe that. I do
 believe it is a lie.

Now, sharing them in some way that constitutes imposing them on
others is another matter. But not just for sharing them.

JS> Keeton's lawsuit alleged that she was told to undergo a
JS> reeducation program and attend "diversity sensitivity
 JS> training."

She needs a better case than has been shown so far.

JS> University officials declined to comment on specifics of
JS> the lawsuit but released a statement to FOX News that said
JS> Augusta State does not discriminate on the basis of
JS> students' moral, religious, political or personal beliefs.

JS> Tedesco said both cases should be a warning to Christians
JS> attending public colleges and universities.

Yeah, watch out, if you have a problem sinners will defend you
 with lies.

JS> "Public universities are imposing the ideological stances
JS> of private groups on their students," he said. "If you
JS> don't comply, you will be kicked out. It's scary stuff and
JS> it's not a difficult thing to see what's coming down the
 JS> pike."

And there is nothing in the article to support that.

JS> The Alliance Defense Fund told FOX News it will appeal the
 JS> ruling.
