Both the new Subaru Forester and Outback models have 9 inches of ground clearance. This is in the Jeep Grand Cherokee territory unless you get the really expensive Jeep with the air suspension that you can lift up to 11 inches. Also the Subarus have "X-Mode" now in the transmission so you can crawl. They are also one of the few SUVs that have approach and departure angles published... and there are commercially available lift kits to be had. Not bad for a little SUV. No wonder the Outback has become very popular in New England, Colorado and West Virginia.
