BL> there was a Lord Wog Rollo who lived at Ryde.

I think Bob has mangled that too, didnt he call himself Lord Bloody
Wog Rollo ?

BG> An interesting name, and one you'd generally change from, not to!

BL> He was from Argentina...

Yeah, clearly one of nature's eccentrics. But then again, they have
heaps of poms there, maybe it was in his genes.

BL> It's a sad story, actually. Lord Wog Rollo was convinced that
BL> the police were out to get him for being a wog,

BG> What makes you think that he was wrong though? |-)

Interesting in some ways considering what the drug baron has been
telling me about the cops and him. Wouldnt surprise me in the slightest
to see him in the paper having been shot. Perfect excuse too actually
given him being a pretty obvious psychopath etc too.

BL> so he changed his name (as you say, it must have been monumentally
BL> awful if "Lord Wog Rollo" was an improvement), and he painted his
BL> car all over with slogans like:

BL> POLICE PIGS
BL> CORRUPT PIGS TAKE BRIBES
BL> RACIST PIGS SUCK BLOOD

Obviously into coat trailing rather more than we are |-)

BG> ROFL! I've never met a true masochist before. What a fuckwit.

The drug baron does stuff like that too, tho not quite so flagrantly.

BL> and strange ones like:

BL> PIGS EAT CHICKEN

BG> Obscure, but no less inflammatory than those above.

It was probably designed to scramble our brains |-)

BL> Whether or not the police were out to get him for being a wog
BL> *before* he changed his name and painted his car was never
BL> clear, but they sure as hell were out to get him afterwards.

BG> Yeah, I can see how it would have become their mission in life,
BG> to rid the world of loony Argies. I would have too, just quietly. |-)

Yeah, tho hearing of him turning up dead might be a tad off putting.

Thats certainly what happened in VIC, they decided that the
crims were winning, a considerable number of crims end up as
corpses. And a few cops too, mostly kids who didnt stand a chance.

BL> He was arrested for *everything*! His car was given constant
BL> defect notices, he kept falling down stairs when they arrested
BL> him, and eventually he gave it up and moved interstate. Poor
BL> old Lord Wog Rollo is one of the reasons I hate fucking cops.

BG> Are you one of these silly buggers who actually needs a reason?

True, but then I have had the other effect too, called the cops one time
to come and pick up a burglar caught in the act. Had Carl come tearing
round the corner of the house with baton in hand. Gave the burglar a
hell of a fright I can tell you, Carl is built like a brick shithouse |-)

BL> He was totally harmless. Society needs loonies like that.
BL> How else can the rest of us seem normal? :-)

BG> But we don't need Lord Wog Rollo - we already have Paul Edwards! |-)

True, tho I must admit I agree with Bob, certainly keeps life interesting.

BL> Totally legal, though. You can't register a personal name.

BG> Que? That's what a deed poll is.

BL> I'm not sure how you'd go renaming yourself Kentucky Fried
BL> Chicken Grimsley, but I guess you could do it.

BG> Dunno, Collins Food International hold the copyright to that name,
BG> and I strongly doubt they'd let you get away with copyright infringement.

Interesting question come to think of it. Bet you could get away with
using most of them as personal names.

BG> Like Rod says, there are some things which aren't permitted,
BG> mainly offensive stuff, like Bill Catfucker, or Bob QWKfucker
BG> (the list is virtually endless, the more I think about it). |-)

BL> Why not? Names were originally meant to identify us, and it's what
BL> you and I do best. Your full name could be Bill OS/2 Catfucker.

BG> It's a bit like possibly offensive number plates though, with
BG> certain alpha combinations skipped in production. Back in the late
BG> '70s, I recall with glee that FUC and FUK were not issued by the NSW MRD.

Thats a bit different, they have to make those. You dont even have to
change your name by deed poll if you dont want to. There are still some
pretty stringent laws on some stuff tho, particularly military rank and
that one that Rot brought up is even better, calling yourself Sir Bill
Grimsley will likely end up with your guts used in the Order of the
Garter quick smart |-)

And its DMT actually |-)

BG> To digress a moment, a few years ago, a whole batch of police cars
BG> up here had consecutive plates, nnn-PIG, which cracked me up no end,
BG> and I have recently seen another batch with nnn-COW plates, one being
BG> driven by what was possibly the world's most immense policewoman!

A likely story. Pull the other one Bill |-)

BG> However, the funniest af all was 10-12 years ago, when P plates
BG> were required by law, and some local idiot had affixed one directly
BG> in front of his number plate, which was originally OOF-nnn. After
BG> that, it read POOF-nnn, and I don't think anybody bothered telling
BG> him, because I kept noticing him for several months. Made my day,
BG> it did. |-)

Cant imagine why |-)

BL> What about all the Ramsbottoms and Glasscocks? Or the Germans
BL> named Fucks? There's even a Shiit religion.

BG> Actually, it's Shiite, but I take your point. Also, the German
BG> name is spelt FUCHS, and my own mother's maiden name was FOOKES,
BG> which is no doubt an anglicisation of the German version.

I knew a pom well with the name of Rutter. He always tried to tell some
tall story about that having been anglicised from the Dutch or something.
No one believed him |-)

BG> If you think our names are bad, have a look at the English spelling
BG> of a few Japanese names. Now some of those are really funny. |-)

Dunno, after the atrocity of calling cars a Cedric and a Grinner, they
wont get any sympathy from me |-)
