subject: structure alignment

ac> Does anyone know of any other DOS or OS/2 compilers that align structures
ac> by default?

IBM's cset++ 2.0 does...

/Sp Pack structure members on specified alignments.
                  Default: /Sp4

Also, gnu/emx does too, with no compiler option to change it
(you have to use pragmas instead).

ac> Also, does aligning structures at 2- or 4-byte boundaries
ac> really provide a distinct speed increase in an 'average' program? Tnx.

I don't know. Always code on the assumption that structures
aren't aligned in a particular manner, and you will end up
with portable code.  BFN.  Paul.
