JM>> If you detest having to work 60 hours weeks start your own JM>> business and work 80-100 hours a week ML> been there, done that... wanna buy a tee-shirt? no never ML> mind... i do not need BK> What did the company do? How much are the tee-shirts. ROTFL!! actually, i owned and operated a computer consulting company... i started it with nothing other than a 286-12mhz machine and my knowledge... my first sale put the company in the red by ~$20US and the receipt of the payment for the equipment and installation put the company ~$100US in the black and the company stayed in the black for the entire time i had it... the very first year saw a closing of the books sitting at ~$80000+US... i closed the company due to other unscrupulous companies in the area and their methods of "marketing" and "clientele gathering"... one of the foremost was out and out lying about hardware that i was selling... they were telling folk that i was selling Class-C and remanufactured equipment when the reality was that most all of us were purchasing our equipment from the very same vendors... their problem was that they were "artificially" inflating their prices and saying that my prices were "so cheap" (i prefer inexpensive) because i was buying low quality stuff... the real truth of the matter was that i was running with a standard 30point markup across the board and not 100points here and 5points there... an example would be 72pin memory SIMMs... where we were both purchasing them for ~$50 (for the sake of argument), i was selling mine for ~$70US and they were selling theirs for ~$125US or some such... a large enough difference that folk believe their lies... heck, all i was after was the necessary capital to operate the business and keep my expenses paid... they were after a whole lot more :( every finally came to light several years later when most of those competitors closed up shop due to various reasons and left folk holding the bag... i personally know that one of them closed up and left on the lam owing over a million $US to no less than three different vendors... )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
