It's mostly the teen/20 year olds who pop the buck-o-la's for ring tones,
and they're the group that typically spend the most $$$'s on cell services.
(Much to the chagrin of their parents I'm sure..LOL).

Do you think that ring tones will be a long term revenue source? I don't
see a reason to pay for a ring tone version of music. My phone, which runs
Windows Mobile, lets me use any WAV file I want as the ring tone. I can
use music I have.
I do think the idea of bundling a music player into a cell phone is a
good idea. Why carry two devices instead of one?

The winner in the whole music download business in the US hasn't even
gotten
a serious start yet, the cell phone industry.
In Japan, they have the huge lions share of the market, and Apple, being a
late comer because of negotiating royalties, is having a large struggle
getting the same traction they have in the US market.
Once they (cell phone folks) get the correct packaging (cell phone
handset),
watch out.
Heck, kids now pay $2.00, $1.99 type prices to download 15-20 second RING
TONES, and that's not even full songs!!!
Ring Tones are a huge money maker for all parties. Key insiders in the
Music Business know that it's just a matter of time before the cell phone
folks swallow Apples market share. Apples only hope is to get their
iPhone
product correct, and partner up with ALL of the cell providers to sell an
iPhone on all networks, not just one, like Sprint, or Verizon. That's
going
to be the hard sell though.
