Gary,
        Thank you for your response. You seem to advocate the "no black and 
white" manner of thought, and that is apparently the other prevailing answer 
to my question. 
        Besides carefully assessing the patient, using the oximeter as a tool 
to perhaps verify your initial conclusions would seem to be the route to 
stick to.
