if pyhon is missing in gentoo, then its really reinstall time, not fixing time
1: download sysresquecd, burn it to cdrw media
2: boot the cdrw, make sure its 64bit kernel selected
3: if that boots, then you now have a working .config to compile your own
kernel from !
4: read online handbook for howto setup gentoo, dont use old files from old
harddisks
5: read the howto very carefull, dont random read any point or step from howto
if its not working, read handbook one more time
giving up ?
goto linode.com and take it from there, only need to select 64bit kernel, and
when its booted, emerge --sync, then emerge -e @world, to get it all compiled
from source, this is important on linode
