Holy ashtrays Batman! I've got to tell you guys something: my uncle has for
forever been some sort of technology visionaire, surfing on the cutting
edge of tomorrows tech, making a living by predicting future (often
succesfully - he was laughed out of university in the 1960's for claiming
that by the year 2000 almost everyone would have a personal communication
device with them). Ever since 1970's something, he's been documenting his
life with the idea that one day computers will be powerfull enough to
simulate life, and then all his memories could be inputed and his
simulation could then go on doing, well, whatever. I know it sound nuts,
but he's a strange guy in many ways so I'm not really laughing.

So, anyways, last year he had a stroke and had to move out of his apartment
into a place where there are nurses around and wheelchair access to all
places, I don't know what it's called in English, some sort of assisted
living facility. So we had to clean up his apartment to put all his stuff
in a storage, and I couldn't believe my eyes: he had several rooms full, as
in from floor to ceiling, of photos, CD's, DVD's, VHS tapes, all sorts of
old film reels, notebooks with drawings, you name it. I threw a rough
estimate that there were probably over 200.000 photos! And the last decade
or so he's been walking around with several digital cameras and a few video
cameras, all the time, so there are probably at least that many digitals
there, too.

Now imagine stuffing all that into this ne photosynth thingamajickie.
Provided it didn't go bellyup under the load, that would probably be a
very, very interesting model it would generate. I have got to get me a copy
of that software!
