Concerning _Pro-2005_, Bobbie Beers said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:

Nothing but mountains around here. Radically different reception just by
moving the antenna a few feet. I live between a couple of mountains that I
guess act as some kind of wave guide, as I can sometimes pick up
transmissions from 100 miles to the south better than I can pick them up from
20 miles to the west.
BB> I've never regreted purchasing any of them, and also the 2035.
 BB> Haven't tried the 2042, yet!
I'm about to try the 2042. The local Radio Shack didn't have any in stock
(they say there are only 4 in the entire district) but did order me one,
which should be here Thursday. I'm trading in my 2035 for it. That's the
secret, you know. Never keep a scanner more than 30 days. :-)
BB> When I purchased my first programmable RS scanner, the 2001, (16
BB> channel) I promised my husband I wouldn't want another scanner as long
 BB> as I lived!
My girlfriend has complained of being a computer widow, a videogame widow,
and here lately, a scanner widow. Just the other day, she said it was good
that I hit middle-age crazy so early so I could get it out of my system...
BB> I saw the specs for the 2042, and it does have a few new tricks that
BB> would be nice to have on a scanner.
That's what I thought. I had to run the rationalization machine full power
for a couple of weeks, but finally decided to check it out.
BB> Since I have a birthday coming up, maybe, just maybe? I have a feeling
BB> whatever the gift, it's already been bought. Al seems to be putting in
 BB> alot of overtime lately.
As long as Al remembers to wrap the sales slip with it... :-)
