Have have commented this line out, ... , works ...

 BP> yes, i post my whole msged.cfg to show how:

 BP>    ----- msged.cfg begins -----
 BP> AreafileFlags 8

Mine reads;

AreafileFlags 8u

 BP> Areafile Fidoconfig Both

Mine reads;

Areafile Fidoconfig

What does the "Both" do ... ?

 BP> Readmap /home/xpoint/fido/config/readmaps.dat

Readmap readmaps.is1

 BP> Writemap /home/xpoint/fido/config/writmaps.dat

Writemap writmaps.is1

 BP> OutputCharset LATIN-1

OutputCharset IBMPC

 BP> AssumeCharset CP1125

What is this different from?

CharsetAlias IBMPC CP850

I write mostly in English, and on occasion "Afrikaans", what would you
reccomend I use above?

 BP> the 2 first lines is what does it :=)

See above ... :-))

 BP> but you need msged compile so ldd gives

is as follows;

        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xb7fa6000)
        libfidoconfig.so.1.4 => /usr/lib/libfidoconfig.so.1.4 (0xb7f64000)
        libsmapi.so.2.4 => /usr/lib/libsmapi.so.2.4 (0xb7f4a000)
        libncurses.so.5 => /lib/libncurses.so.5 (0xb7f17000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7db4000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xb7db0000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fa7000)

 RT>> Next ... I used to use the route keyword as follows ...

 RT>> route crash 1:140/1 1:* 3:* 4:*
 RT>> route crash 2:292/285 2:*

 RT>> route 1:140/1 1:*
 RT>> route 1:3634/12 1:3634/*

 BP> then swap this 2 lines, route is topdown order in husky first match
 BP> wins :)

Okay ...

 RT>> Is the order of these statement reguired to be in any special
 RT>> order for this to work or not ...

 BP> yes order is important :)

Progress is being made ....

Many many thanks,

Russell
