There are no significant technical differences. Even though many
phone manufacturers make cosmetic changes to phones sold through the
different carriers in some markets, they are interchangeable. Here in my
area, Motorola phones sold through Bell Atlantic are dark grey, and
those sold through the A carrier are light grey. But I've never had a
problem with reprogramming a Motorola with an AT&T Wireless or Cellular
One logo on it to work on Bell Atlantic. My competitors on the "A" side
report the same situation when they convert one of ours.
I've even had some customers with dual NAM phones subscribe to BOTH
carriers with the same phone.
