It turned out to be a corrupted registry ... probably created by
by using the Intranetware Uninstall on an older 32bit client. 
A fresh install of the whole workstation has fixed the problems.
To make it worse ... I cloned the bad ones with Ghost  ;)

Thats what I understand ... but wonder what the Y2K patch for
the 3.11 SERVER.EXE is for?  I've applied it.
