I would imagine D'Bridge would run fine under native Windows 8.1, provided
it was 32bit and not 64bit. 

The best of both worlds solution would be just go ahead with Windows 7 or
Windows 8.1 64bit mode, and virtualize the current XP system and run it
using VMware Player under Windows 8.1.

It is like getting two PCs in one.
