Hi Martin!
RL>> Just more evidence for the argument that tone is in the fingers.
MR> Jaco Pastorius said much the same thing. He was often asked (by
MR> interviewers who wanted to know about his equipment, his set-up and
MR> various modifications), how he got his incredible tone. Almost
MR> invariably Jaco's reply was that his sound was in his hands.
If you have a reasonable setup, like no worn out strings, not the cheapest of
all amps and not the worst pickups in this world, you can make it sound good.
I`d say that 75% of the tone is in the fingers, half of it in the left hand
and
half of it in the right hand.
RL>> I have a feeling SRV could have taken my Squier Strat and plugged it
RL>> into a Squier-15 through a MetalZone pedal and made it sound like God.
MR> Yeah, I know. Scary, isn't it?
My Squire sounds great. It's my cheapest, but nearly my fav. Guitar. It can
sound really warm for jazz comping and hot and distorted for fusion lead.
None of my jazz guitars can do that.
Take care
SVEN
