Oh No, I've been found out!  Yes, I still have my Akai Reel to Reel deck and 
still use it.  I even have several pre-recorded tapes for it from years and 
years ago.
I did, however, splurge a few months ago and bought a new cassette deck with 
Dolby S and HX-Pro and all that neat stuff on it.  It's the first time that 
I've heard a cassette deck out perform my old reel to reel and the tapes are 
much cheaper for it.  So, I think the reel to reel is finally doomed to a 
life of playing my existing tapes and no more recording.
It is fun to see the look on peoples face though when they visit me and see 
the reel to reel actually being used.  Then thier jaw drops when they pay 
attention to how good it sounds ;)
