   No.  This is about the following statements from adam

  I wonder if it changes the file in any way. If
  so.....ummm....copyright....? If I own the file then like a movie or
  piece of music "rearranging without permission" etc is verboten.

The rearranging to which he is referring is what you call format = shifting.
