  Does this also turn off IPV6 for the local loopback interface?  Does
turning off IPV6 for the NIC disable IPV6 DNS queries?

   Geo's point was that if you never configure a physical interface with an
IPV6 IP address, you wouldn't expect AAAA DNS record queries.   After all,
what would it do with the IPV6 address if it couldn't connect to it?
