Concerning _pro-2042_, Andy Ulrich said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
AU> Also very interested in any info on the 2042.
From what I gather so far, it's pretty much the same hardware as the 2035,
just with better firmware. All the info I've been able to gather on the 2035
so far is that it's pretty much the same hardware as the 2004/5/6, minus the
cellular, with a neat control knob and better firmware.
Gee, I'm really helpful today, aren't I?
AU> I was very disapointed that the cellular freq's were not available in
Supposedly, you can order the same scanner from Radio Shacks outside the US
that are not cellular disabled. If this is true, it might be possible to
just order a replacement CPU from Canada or somewhere and have it shipped in,
or maybe not. I haven't cared enough to try. Unlike 800 MHz trunked systems
or the "used only one day every two weeks" VHF channels around here, cellular
is pretty easy to follow even without the 2035's firmware.
... Amazing how much you learn after thinking you know it all.
