He doesn't run Gentoo. Gentoo developers test new releases before commiting it
to portage. This is a limitation in package management done by most distros.

Maurice runs his own build of Linux, and compiles what he wants to. If the GCC
developers release a new version, he installs it. They've obviously tested it
before releasing.

The only reason Gentoo has it masked is because Gentoo developers are making
sure it won't break anything else Gentoo related before unmasking it.

So, since you think Gentoo is the best thing since sliced bread.. think of it
this way: You're getting everything from a 3rd party (Gentoo maintainers), and
not the original source.

It's great that you're a Gentoo fanboy, but noone else really cares. :)
