You have to have:
A) the zip/jar file on the classpath so the JRE can find it B) The URL of the DB
C) The classname to call (driver).
e.g. some settings:
COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver
jdbc:db2://MACHINE/PORT/DATABASE
oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
jdbc:oracle:thin:{at}MACHINE:PORT:DATABASE
org.postgresql.Driver
jdbc:postgresql://MACHINE:PORT/DATABASE;
For MySQl go to:
http://www.mysql.com/products/connector-j/
& dl the driver.
the driver classname = "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"
The URL format = jdbc:mysql://MACHINE:PORT/DATABASE
Usual ports:
PGSQL: jdbc:postgresql://servername:5432/name MYSQL:
jdbc:mysql://servername:3306/name
DB2 net: jdbc:db2://servername/6789/name Oracle:
jdbc:oracle:thin:{at}servername:1521:name
