While tripping merrily through the mail, Richard Doherty was overheard

 >Also, It makes a strange low pitched hum if you go over 50mph.
 >It seems to transmit through the steering gear.
 >I know that at first one would expect this to be the weel bearings,
 >however, they have been repacked and checked out ok.
RD> Could it possibly be a wheel that is unbalanced? I had the old
RD> balancing weights fall off a front wheel in my GTO last summer
RD> and the effect was much the same. The shudder from the wheel seemed
RD> to kick in at higher speeds. 3 oz's later at the wheel shop and that
 RD> problem was licked! :>
Just an off the wall idea, could the noise possibly be caused by running
Radial tires on a chassis that was designed for Bias Ply tires?
Don
