subject: Drake list Fido echo

In a message dated 10-15-03, Thom Lacosta said to Holger Granholm:

Hello Thom,

TL>As I've explained many times, the drakelist changed from an open
TL>list to one that required membership to post to cut down the
TL>tremendous amount of spam that was coming into the list.

Yes you have explained that before, however I see no spam in other
echoes that are based on Internet lists.

TL>Unfortunately, the FIDO input to the lists was lost, since the
TL>gateway software sent the Fido posts in such a way that they
TL>appeared to come from non-subscibers.

Apparently others have solved the problem. Why not make the few that
want to post through FidoNet members of the illustrious club?
Or change the gateway software!

At the moment my BBS is importing two other "list echoes" that both
allow Fido users to write to them, not only read.

TL>Please don't take any more pot shots Holger...since you've sold most
TL>of your spares, there may not be a need for you to post at all.

I don't subscribe to the Drake echo because I wanted to sell what was
surplus (to me) ie. Drake spares. Still have a few original manuals.

Also, I have wanted many times to reply to questions asked in the
Drake echo but not been allowed to.

I'm genuinely interested in Drake gear having imported and serviced
them for the finnish market. Also I'm still using the Drake TR-7,
W-4 and WV-4 items.

I don't have any other HF rig except a Tokyo Hy-Power transverter
HX-240 that can convert the signals to/from an allmode 144 MHz
transceiver to the five classic HF bands.

A RV-4 is waiting for company by one of the TR-4 transceivers I sold.
Still miss the TR-4cw I used myself.
