subject: PASS VALUES BETWEEN MACRS

Here's another question for the macro Wizards.
How does one preserve and pass a value from one
                macro to another?
I know to use "Dim Shared" within a macro in order to communicate
between subroutines and functions within the one macro body, but
now I want to carry data across macros. Here's an example of use:
Macro: GetStyle. Place the text cursor in a
                paragraph and run this macro.
Macro: PutStyle. Place the text cursor in a
paragraph, and the style most recently obtained
by GetStyle will be applied to this paragraph.
Now I know that half of you are going to say "Chris, you can do
that with Format Painter", but (1) you can't and (2) I purposely
chose this example because you know how Format Painter works.
Thanks in advance for any hints, suggestions or tips.
