subject: MsgEd key repeat rates

BG> Dunno what happened, but since disabling LBA in BIOS, the
BG> keyboard repeat rate in your MsgEd hack has returned to normal.

RS> Christ, something pretty fucking weird going on there boy |-)

BG> You're not wrong. I also disabled the keyboard repeat rate
BG> in BIOS at the same time, but still can't see how that would
BG> make a difference.

Ah, ok, bet thats it. Thats used to set the keyboard repeat rate in
the system hardware, the keyboard itself and the keyboard controller.
So that survives OS2 replacing the motherboard bios with its own code
as part of the boot to OS2. So thats not particularly surprising at all.

BG> Trouble is, now that it's running perfectly, I'm rather loath
BG> to risk fucking things up by changing my BIOS settings again.

Yeah, rather academic, I would be most surprised if it really is
the LBA, bet its the keyboard repeat rate in the cmos that did it.

BG> I'm not going to risk trashing my desktop again by reenabling
BG> LBA (see my message to Rod in LOCUSER), so I don't know if this
BG> is the cause, or just coincidence, but if you've been having
BG> difficulties repeating my problem on your PC, now you know why.

Yeah, pretty important to keep the lurkers up to date on the detail
on weirdys like this. Otherwise these things have a hell of a capacity
to take on a life of their own at times.

RS> I think you need a good exorcist, or just do the traditional
RS> thing, insure it for heaps and torch it and start over.

BG> Yeah, the thought had crossed my mind, but now that all is well again,

You FOOL, it wont be now that you have bragged about it, dont you know
nuffin boy ?

BG> I'll save the extra insurance premium until next year,
BG> or when I feel like buying myself a PPC (if ever).

I still think you could sacrifice any cat you come across just to
be on the safe side. OTOH you appear to have been doing that already,
maybe there is something in that story about them being able to fuck
up your life if you mess them around.
