Not only does it handle polling, but it provides so many other features its hard to list them all. It allows you to use truetype fonts in your dos console windows. It allows you to use different monospaced fonts than the one used by Windows. It allows you to change the colorized appearance of the dos apps in ways that the dos app itself doesn't allow. It allows you to scale the fonts used to display the dos console window so that they are easier to read on high resolution monitors. Combining TameDos (cheap at around $20) with the free Dos Replacement Fonts available from some Scandinavian guy on the web make for a really pleasing UI improvement as well as performance improvement to the two Dos Apps I use regularly.
