Hey guys/gals,
I have been swamped for the past 8+ weeks gearing up to open my 2nd Cafe. This
one serves "real food", besides nutritional shakes.
Anyway, during my absense, I have setup a few mailers on DosBOX using it's
built in TCPRS232 feature. As most of you know, I am coding my own BBS from
scratch, along with porting code I own from IST, MotorCity and QuickBBS. During
the effort of porting, I personally wanted to build a FrontDoor/Intermail clone
which neither seem to work on DosBOX, so I had to test against Portal of Power
and d'Bridge. Eventually, I found XenoPhobe-II and McMailer, some how I had
stumbled across their source code over the years.... anyway.
I have successfully TSynch'd with PoP63 and McMailer, found that it appears
d'Bridge does not support FTS-0001.006 for TSynch (pre-Wazoo). I am curious,
does anyone know of a FrontDoor system running on DosBOX? JoHo replied to me
via email that basically he was not sure why I get the inability to read/write
the ROUTE.@FD semaphore - yet, I can delete it and run FD.EXE and it creates it
again, then errors out. It has been so long since I ran FD or IM, that it is
probably a configuration setting or a config.sys setting.
Right now, I have: TSynch & XModem, TSynch & XModem-CRC, TSynch & Modem7, and
TSynch & TeLink working. I am working on TSynch & SeaLink today. Then, I start
on the next level of introducing WaZoo and YooHoo.
Why? Because I can, Because I want to, therefore, I am.
Everything I am coding, I am releasing as OpenSource on GitHub. I am using this
to learn, to test my compiler, and hopefully to help clean-up mistakes that are
in the current era of Fidonet by giving out code that works as spect suggest.
For example, my web interface to Fidonet has given me the ability to see too
many tossers are not implementing REPLY: correctly or at all. So messages being
threaded by MSG-ID and REPLY also need to be threaded by Subject and Timestamp.
To produce a somewhat readable thread. * These tossers include Synchronet,
IRex, and a couple other smaller guys like myself. I messed up and was doing
REPLY-ID. Outta RFC2822's Message-ID, I messed up and did Reply-ID. So, I have
been focused on developing a test system - so people can poll for test packets,
zippped and raw, .REQ files send and receive, and tossing to and from. Nothing
goes beyond the system - and of course, I would love some of your input and
knowledge. For example, has anyone implement .PKT v3.0? Or anything after that?
I am asking this echo - to keep is amongst friends at first. ;-)
Back to coding...
