Without knowing more details, I can't really see what you might be
'missing', if anything.

SVR4 or R3.x?

GNU has a *very* complete curses library called ncurses, which happens to
include termcap/terminfo as well. The documentation is quite complete, and
the implementation is the most efficient I've seen. It is certainly
supported for SVR4, but not (yet afaik) for Sys VR3.
