Same here, QModem 1.0, Sportster 28.8 v.34/v.fc
Had a Sportster v.32, but never a problem.

I use AT&F1&K3S11=45. You shoudn't ever have to use E1.
I've been experimenting with this; when I use alt-E to toggle duplex,
(twice) the problem dissappears.
As soon as I switched to half duplex, and typed a command, viola!, it
appeared. When I switched back to full, I can still see the commands.
