 Cognitive Science.   Which is to say, the interdisciplinary study of 
 the mind combining psychology, linguistics, computer science and 
 philosophy.   I figured that this way, unlike a more conventional 
 computer science degree, I'll actually feel like I've learned 
 something about how things work.  I'm specializing primarily in 
 Aritifical Cognition - probably leaning toward Natural Language 
 Processing, but I'm not quite sure yet.  However, doing this part 
 time, I have years and years to figure it out.. *sigh*

Hey Neal,

I can see interesting theoretical conversations in the future.  In my 
stories, I'm developing true A.I. characters and letting them create their 
own society.  Perhaps, with your help, I'll actually understand Newell's 
S.O.A.R. engine, the Cyc database system, Bell-South's holographic memory 
crystals and how diagnostic software and hardware might eventually become a 
sense of self-reference for A. I.s.  Those systems are my theoretical core 
for my creations.  I'll let you tell me if this would be fun for you to 
discuss.
