Have you tried first do the right getting from cvs, and then cd /user/hpt.
I have it done by made a husky directory /husky and from in here do the cvs
like this way.

cd /home/kofo/husky
and by a .sh file do the cvs for all of them.
sh cvs-husky.sh
cd /hpt
make
su (root password)
make install

sometimes does linux not like to run make as user so I run make as root.
Then after make install is done checking the permission of the installed
files and change them for the user to run in what ever directory I am in.

You can for a makeinstall.err file use the command with :
make > /filename and make install > filename

Try to ask Benny Pedersen aabout the other command.
