Hello Richard and all,
I would also encourage anyone who wonders just what all the fuss is about
when it comes to our dealings with the air lines to read back issues of
the Braille Monitor from the late 1970's to the early 1990s. Many of them
contain their share of horror stories of treatment by the blind by the air
lines. I believe that two of the worst ones I've heard about were those
that discussed Mike Hingson's being hauled off of a plane and being
physically abused by Las angelis Police for refusing to being forced to
sit in a bulkhead seat because he used a guide dog, and the one about
Steeve and Nadean Jacobson's being arrested and taken to jail and strip
searched becaused they refused to move from an over-wing exit row seat; a
seat that was assigned to them by none other than United Air lines.
Harvey and anyone who believes that they have been mistreated by an air
line for any reason has a well-founded reason to feel angry about the way
they were treated given the record of treatment of blind passingers by
some of our Nation's air lines. Mary and I hope you get what you want
from United air Lines. In doing so you will hopefully keep the rest of us
from having to endure similar treatment.
Take care and have a great weekend.
