JT> Hello, have we comunicated before?
I don't think so...I do a lot of "lurking", and have put my two cents
worth in (sorry...Canadian funds) now and then.
JT> Yes, i can tell you about pn basketry [and even snail you an
JT>instruction sheet]
That would be wonderful! Thank you!

but i must disagree with the lady that said that 6-8
JT>inch needles were ideal.
My mistake! She thought "my needles" would be ideal...she didn't
mention any length. I actually have never measured them. Just a guess,
and as everything up here is in metric...we have to translate!
I woud say that the 8 inch ones (about 20 cms) are the minimum and
ideal is 12-14.(about 32 cms) I have even worked with 20-24 inchers.
My goodness...what kind of tree has that size of needles??
JT> This is a coiled basket system.
If you would like the instruction sheet , i will send it.
Yes, please!
Meantime you can begin to gather your needles.
Will do...We do have many many pine trees (and spruce and fir, etc. etc)
in British Columbia!
that i get green from where a tree has been cut down.
That won't be any problem.
JT>gathered, put all the same direction [lined up] and dried. I
gather JT>them into pkts with yarn or rubberbands. With the green
ones, about 3 JT>wks are need for them to dry. Whether you do them in
sun or shad will JT>effect the eventual color. It is also possible to
turn them chocolate JT>brown.
Sounds easy enough....I am going away for a couple of weeks (To
Calgary...so of course will be going through Banff....a treasure-trove
of needles!!!

Just curious...do many pine trees grow in your area?? I have never been
there. All my relatives are Americans...now in Tennessee, Minnesota,
Georgia, and California. I have been across the northern states, and
down the west coast to Mexico, but never in your area. (Was quite
fascinated by the Mississippi River when we visited Nauvoo, Illinois,
but that is as close as I have been. Always interested in my "other
country" (I have dual citizenship) Thanks for your help, and let me
know if there is anything I can do for you! Take care. Marj
