to the point, why are you allowing more kittens into
the world when we've got altogether more than we can
house now?  Are your male and female some sort of
valuable purebreds that you can't taken the step of
neutering?

Since toms can and do eradicate the byproduct of these
breeding sessions, females drive them away after mating.
