Get the docs, there is an -install switch that generates an initial setup. If
that fails already then you may have a compilation problem. If it works then
add every feature step by step to find the problem.

Yes. That is one of the best features of golded. That is the work in progress
file for new messages. Once i wrote a long mail with references and source
research when my computer crashed. I couldn't save the mail and i was upset
that my long work was lost. After restarting the machine and golded a never
seen before message popped up "unfinished message found" and everything was
there. That really made my day.

Even now this mail is in that file:

$ head golded.msg
+$!$+ GoldED Internal Editor: Unfinished Message!
