What I remember is that he had been in a very serious accident and
*almost* died... and then his health was very poor for some years after
that.  He dropped out of sight after that, and there was all sorts of
conjecture, but I don't remember hearing directly or indirectly of his
demise.  I've been a regular (albeit lurking at times) participant of
this echo ever since becoming a registered user of BW 2.12 back in 1992.
Actually, probably before that...  George signed my registration letter
then; his brother Scott signed my BW 2.20 registration letter in '95.

He may well have died in the interim, I just haven't heard anything
other than conjecture or rumor since...  :(
