In a way I don't find the statement all that outrageous, at least for some
scenariose. I've encountered exactly *one* virus on my home PC over the
last 10+ years, so all the $ I've spent on security software over the years
was of arguably of questionable value.

(I don't have kids who surf in questionable Web neighbourhoods, which
changes the dynamic a fair bit.)
