DB> You may have missed this with your modem. We have hundreds of
DB> Maestro v34 and v34+ modems. These use a Rockwell chipset and
DB> appears to have a similar commandset to most other Rockwell

DB> that bit 4 of S91 can be set (ATS91=16) to give a Signal Quality
DB> & Line Level report at connect time.
This may be something specific to Maestro's firmware since
s91= is the PSTN attenuation level (-10dBm default depending
on country config -10 to -15, =10 default to 15) An attempt
at ATS91=16 will usually still bring back an ATS91? result of
15 if the country config allows transmit line level to be
adjusted
 DB> For example, ATS91=16S95=47 on a v34 gives
 DB> CARRIER 2800
 DB> PROTOCOL: LAP-M
 DB> COMPRESSION: V.42BIS
 DB> SQ:037 LL:027
 DB> CONNECT 28000/ARQ
Does this still happen with default value of s91 ?
 DB> need to perform the "+++ AT%L%Q   A/  A/ ... A/  ATO" sequence.
Neat! Although the reported Q and L values are those only relevent
at the instant of connect
