I just read the petition you refer to, and it does no such thing.


In fact....it doesn't even `mention' any political affiliation, nor is there
in the wording of the document anything whatever that can even be construed as
changing party affiliation!


A.B.390 put up by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano.


Its main thrust is the *taxes* that can be gained from legalizing, plus the
savings of the enforcement costs to seek out, arrest, jail, and prosecute
those who traffic in marajuana. Not to mention the costs to house those
convicted in our prisons.


In fact.....reading through the material for it on the Web just now, and also
reading the petition on the Web that people can sign online, I don't see the
words *Democrat* or *Republican* in any of it. And as far as the Assemblyman
who put it up, the material doesn't even state what party Tom Ammiano belongs
to! In fact...I do not know `which' party he belongs to even as I type this.


By the way, I was coming out of Von's when this petition first began to
circulate, and there was a signature gatherer sitting out in front gathering
signatures to get this bill put on the ballot. I signed it. And in November, I
will vote *for* it. It said nothing whatever about `party affiliation' or
`re-registering' as a republican (I read it carefully before signing).


Guess you just ate another *Urban Legend*, eh?
