Yes, I would use ports 80-90 since it's pretty likely this will look like
http traffic if it uses 80 and it's less likely to be blocked.

You could, or you could just join some private P2P group (usually a small
donation is required) and stay off the big public servers.

This is why I like Emule, you just load a file when you boot it up and it
blocks everything in that file (IP list). The file I like is
http://headfucking.net/servermet/ipfilter_full.dat and loading and using
that is actually a built in function in emule so you don't need to run yet
another tsr type program.

You could I guess but Microsoft is already bypassing hosts for their
websites. Personally I think the above list is a bit large for hosts (it's
about 10mb).
