Reminds me of a Toronto Maple Leaf player named Eddie Shack.  Not a great
player (but a crowd pleaser just the same) he spent much of every game
picking up splinters at the end of the bench.  During the game a reporter,
apocryphally I expect, asks Shack why he doesn't give it all up.  Shack
points to the seat next to him and says "He paid to sit there; I got
paid to sit here."

If the guy in the 44th position is watching, he paid to watch.
