Oookay. You know that explains a hell of a lot. More than, perhaps you realize.

Really? That's odd because they have to be very well designed to perform
the functions they do. There have been some passenger aircraft around that
were more ungainly or had bad decisions in the design phasers (The Vickers
Caravel, for instance was beautiful short hop airliner but lacked the range
and was soon killed by the DC9)

There's a reason why you have to be as big a plane bunny as I am to evenb
begin to tell paggenger airliners apart. They are all carefully engineered
to perform the same sets of tasks. If a different chape worked, then it
would rule.

Okay. Subjectivity noted.

Oops one caveat. One place where design flaws and poor design decisions
didn't immediate doom a plane to obscure plane-bunny trivia-bait was the
Soviet Union where the govm't decided what planes were built to what specs,
not the end users. There airliners with massive design flaws of the
hatches were built and flown killing hundreds. Their notion of quality
assurance isn't so hot either, leading to poorly built engines and planes
