I dunno, I didn't have that problem with W2K on my A21, and now I'm using
XP Pro on it.

But installing driver updates, even with the IBM Thinkpad Assistant auto
update thingy, is a convoluted process.  You download the file, click on
the .exe, and all it does is extract some files to a mystery location.  You
then go hunting for a setup.exe file buried in some \drivers\ directory,
and install it manually.
