Back in the windows 1.x days, I was running dos. A friend came into my
office with this great new computer thing called windows and I let him put
a copy on my computer so I could see what he was going on about.

I used windows 1.x and didn't buy windows until version 2.0 came out.

Yes, casual piracy can sell copies. The key factor is you have to have
something worth trying. Microsoft did, they had a new driver model, but it
needed users so they didn't care if people copied windows. Now they own the
market, they don't need users so now they think they need the media
industry. What they don't yet realize is that it's the users that pay for
the software, without them there is no money and pissing in the users
computers is not a good idea.
