A friend of mine (who had seen it umpteen times) rented the video thinking
once I'd seen it I'd love it too. I went home before the first half had
finished

But you couldn't believe in the hokey way they'd Hollywoodized the
characters to try to hammer a "romantic" story onto it to sucker
people into
watching it

He had a place on one of the Gulf Islands for years (might still have it for
all I know) and used to come here for the fishing when he was on hiatis
Wonderful looking in person because of the twinkle in the eye - better in
person than on screen, IMHO - and very, very nice

No, he didn't. He was personally shy, and hated speaking or appearing in
public ("What do they all want to see me for? I'm such an ordinary man.")
but he didn't stutter. His son, George VI, the present Queen's father,
stuttered

I feel sorry for J.K.Rowlings. She thought if she got published that she
would remain anonymous, and people wouldn't even know her real name, much
less what she looked like. I would *hate* to have to try to cope with what
she has to cope with

I think I was hiding behind the door. I loathe being the centre of attention
to the point of avoiding a wedding (Doug and I slipped off with his parents,
my mother, and my uncle. I was wearing a pink suit and a blue hat. My mother
was appalled that she couldn't dress me in white with a train and veil)
going to the movies when I suspected my sisters-in-law were going to throw a
surprise baby shower, and never telling anyone when my real birthday is
