Not in this corner; we're upgrading next week from Verizon's DSL {at} 1.5/768
to fiber optic at 15/2 Mbps. Their trucks were all over the neighborhood in
early summer getting the last .98 mile ready. (I've no idea why we're high
on the agenda, other than being close to a highway where they used
right-of-way for trunk fiber.) That was followed by a blitzkrieg of direct
mail, email, telephone solicitation -- and even door-to-door!

The morning after we placed the order, contractors were here to detect
existing gas line and mark the trenching path from curbside telephone pole
to our NIC. It's pretty clear Verizon is *eager* to start recouping their
investment...
