I did something like that too for OS/2 2.1. We had a PC running DOS that
drove ,via SCSI, a high end postscript ink jet printer. It could rip the
job as one job, that actually print it as the next job under DOS. Crashed
all the time too. Well, I converted it to OS/2 and then it could rip one
job and print another at the same time, while downloading the next
postscript file at the same time, all in separate automated DOS sessions.
It never crashed after that.
About 2 years after I left that company, they called and asked me how I did
that. Seems my replacement tried to replace it with Win95.
