Don't know about the current On-Cmd: the original was written as an x-Base
language for the QNX (queued Unix) operating system. The version we worked
with mimicked dBase. There seemed to be problems with file and record
locking.
1. We found that mysterious system hangups were because a single user
locking a record could prevent anyone else from doing an append.
2. A single user logging in to a multi-user system incorrectly (they thought
they had found an easier way to log on than the one they were taught) could
trash hours of data entry by all other users.
The current versions of On-Cmd and QNX may have solved these problems, but
we lost confidence and moved on to Windows NT Server 3.51 + Clipper. That
has its own problems, of course :-).
