I believe you are thinking of back in the pre-PC days when radio shack
computers had metal shields around pretty much any power source. But I
think that was for TV/Radio interference.

I remember back in the 386 days that there was a serious issue with EM
radiation and, to keep within guidelines/standards the cases *had* to be
made of metal and the openings for heat radiation, etc., had to be
carefully positioned so that they didn't let out too much radiation.  (Not
x-ray, gamma ray type radiation, obviously, but radiated signals.)

So ... what's changed?  Standards are more generous or chip design is less
"leaky"?  Or ... ?
